Check-in Check-out! The fire destroyed almost everything..

The Waldhaus Vulpera, once a renowned hotel in Switzerland, has had an eventful history. Opened in 1897, it was considered one of the most luxurious hotels of the Belle Époque and attracted guests from all over the world. The fire in 1989 destroyed this monument - an employee rescued this painting from the hotel lobby and we were able to help it to regain its former glory.

The restoration of the painting "Waldhaus Vulpera" by Felix Possart (1837-1928), oil on canvas, involved a number of carefully executed measures. First, the picture was unframed and the canvas stretched. The canvas was then dry cleaned and sealed.

Special attention was paid to the color breaks in the top right, which were fixed, filled in and partially retouched. In addition, the gold decorations in plaster on the frame were re-fixed and partially supplemented, especially to the left of the lettering, and minor retouching was carried out on the entire frame. The lettering itself was also retouched.

Finally, a custom-made transport crate was made to ICCP standards to transport the painting safely. All of this work together ensured that the artwork shines in new splendor and is preserved for the long term.
