During the restoration of the portraits of Johanna Esther Tillier and Johann Georg Ernst II, extensive work was carried out to restore the works of art to their original splendor. First, breaks in the frames were filled, gilded, retouched and patinated. The varnish of the paintings was then reduced and cleaned both dry and wet to remove dirt and debris. Oil breaks were fixed and carefully retouched. A linseed oil varnish was then applied to protect and revive the colors. Finally, the paintings were fixed in the frame to ensure their stability and wonderful presentation again.
