Neubezug einer historischen Sitzmöbel-Garnitur

Reupholstering a historic seating furniture set

For a beautiful Art Nouveau villa in Bern's Obstberg district, we were commissioned to reupholster and cover an exquisite living room suite from various historical periods. The furniture—consisting of a fine Louis Seize sofa , an elegant Louis XV armchair , two striking Empire armchairs , and a classic Bernese banquette —was reupholstered in exquisite Damask silk fabric by Veraseta .

The silk fabric, woven in the finest Italian tradition, impresses with a subtle sheen, curved ornamentation, and a feel that combines luxury and craftsmanship. Each style has been individually crafted: The softly curved lines of the Louis XV deliberately contrast with the austere elegance of the Empire, while the Louis Seize sofa, with its clear form, invites tranquility.

Our work included:

  • Professional dismantling and inspection of the racks

  • Reconstruction of the upholstery according to historical models

  • Precise cutting and covering of the Damask fabric

  • Detailed work such as hand-set decorative nails and authentic edging with a finishing border from Nancy

The result is a harmonious composition of stylistic eras, united by textile refinement – created for this Art Nouveau living room that breathes history yet remains modernly habitable.
